Editorial Policy
EcoNiti is an education-first platform. Our daily economics brief exists to help serious aspirants of the UPSC Civil Services (Economics Optional), Indian Economic Service, RBI Grade B DEPR, UGC NET Economics and CUET PG Economics examinations follow current affairs the way their syllabus expects — with concept context, numeric fidelity, and exam mapping.
EcoNiti is not a news agency or wire service. The Daily Brief is educational commentary and exam-oriented explanation based on cited reporting, official releases, and public data.
This page describes the standards we hold every story to.
1. Sourcing
Every story is built on primary news reporting from established Indian mastheads — the Indian Express and The Hindu at present, with additional titles added over time. Where numbers or data-releases appear, we cite the originating body (RBI, MoSPI, NSSO, PIB, IMF, World Bank, etc.).
We do not aggregate or republish source articles. Each brief is an independent explainer written by the EcoNiti editorial team in the site's educational voice, and every source article is linked at the foot of the story.
Attribution is not treated as a licence to reuse third-party media. Source-owned photographs, graphics, thumbnails, screenshots and other media assets are not republished in story pages, RSS, Open Graph metadata or structured data unless EcoNiti has a separate licence or the asset is first-party.
2. Syllabus mapping
Each story is tagged against the Indian Economic Service General Economics syllabus at the (subject, chapter, topic) level. The taxonomy is mirrored from the astram-knowledge-ingestion pipeline and reviewed periodically against the latest UPSC and RBI notifications.
3. Verification
Every numeric claim goes through an automated verifier before publication — Indian comma-formatting, units, and comparison base are matched against the source. Any story where a number can't be traced back to a primary source is either rewritten or dropped.
The editorial pipeline additionally cross-checks concept definitions, mnemonic anchors, and MCQ answer keys against verified references.
4. Review
Stories are reviewed by the editorial lead before publication for factual accuracy, exam-relevance, and readability. The subject-matter reviewer for economics content is Dr. Komal Sahai.
5. Corrections
If we get something wrong we say so, on the record. Our corrections policy is documented at econiti.org/corrections/ and every corrected story carries a visible modification timestamp.
